Pastor Wayne Hammonds took an interest in martial arts as early as 1974. Having tried several different styles over the years. All of these were fun to learn, but it wasn’t until he stepped into an Ed Parker’s American Kenpo Karate Studio that he found what became the perfect fit for him. Many friends and great memories have been made over the years. The most memorable was when Pastor Wayne’s own grandson took an interest in Kenpo in the year 2004. Pastor Wayne, after having been on a leave from Kenpo to focus more on the ministry and family, received a renewed passion for the art. He wanted to do something creative and productive with his grandson. It’s been a great journey ever since.

Pastor Wayne received his Black Belt on May 30th 2008 and began teaching classes at Apostolic Ministries at the request of some of the members. It has been extremely rewarding to work with the young people and adults over the years teaching Kenpo Karate at the church. Pastor Wayne is grateful to his grandson, who has also been a black belt for years now, and all the other students that have worked hard to achieve this goal and helped to make our classes a continued success. Why not learn them at church? It’s a wonderful place to join people together and establish great friendships and relationships that can last a lifetime. give it a try. You just might be pleasantly surprised at what you are capable of accomplishing.
